AECOM’s Impact Assessment and Permitting practice is actively seeking an experienced, highly talented Mid level Ecologist for immediate employment in the Cincinnati, Ohio office. The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary team-oriented environment. This position provides unlimited career growth potential while working with an excellent team comprised of a variety of staff and project managers in support of AECOM’s clients, including natural gas and electric utilities. AECOM’s Cincinnati Impact Assessment and Permitting group conducts a wide variety of projects including environmental field assessments, environmental regulatory permitting, utility siting and licensing, environmental inspection, and many others. The group primarily works on projects in Ohio and adjacent states as part of AECOM’s regional ecological group. There are opportunities to work on large-scale projects or projects further afield than the typical project range if candidate is interested. The position reports to Cincinnati, OH and teleworking may be considered.
The successful applicant will join a network of existing AECOM Ecology and Siting specialists across the US.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Stream, wetland, and wildlife habitat assessments
Writing wetland delineation reports, function assessments, mitigation plans, and environmental compliance/permitting documents (Clean Water Act Permits, Section 401 and 404, or other permit applications)
Managing tasks and projects according to approved scopes of work and deliver quality reports on schedule and within budget.
Coordinating with various governmental agencies (USFWS, USACE, etc.)
Preparing biological evaluations/assessments
Leading field crews for wetland/waterbody and wildlife habitat assessments
Assisting Senior Staff with business development activities, including proposals, pre-qualifications, and relationship building with clients and prospective clients

BA/BS in Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Studies, Biology or related field + 4 years of data collection, data review, and preparation of scientific documents including wetland delineations, stream assessments, technical reports, Section 401/404 permitting and mitigation or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Experience with ESRI ArcGIS products. Strong understanding of Geographic Information System (GIS) processes and capabilities. GIS Certification certification/degree preferred.
Position requires field work and candidate must be able to travel.
Good driving record and valid driver’s license required
Master’s degree in relevant field
Experience working in a fast-paced consulting environment
Technical writing experience specifically with regard to authoring siting studies, and/or FERC resource reports, and/or NEPA analysis preferred.
Experience working with electric utility and natural gas clients - AEP, Duke, FirstEnergy, Enbridge preferred
Experience delivering high quality technical documentation and permit applications
High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment
Excellent oral and written communication with ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical staff/management
Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills
Organizational management skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.
Strong working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Power Point
