Job Summary

The Opportunity

As a Senior Power Systems Engineer in our vibrant T&D team, you will be responsible for the design management and delivery of HV transmission and distribution projects for our clients throughout New Zealand and Australia.

This client facing consultancy role contributes to the design of New Zealand’s critical electrical infrastructure that will ultimately improve the reliability and quality of supply to our communities. Each day you will be challenged with a different problem to solve and there will be endless opportunities for you to advance your career in the T&D sector.

Some of your day to day tasks will include:

  • Concept and Detailed Design of HV substation primary systems, HV cable systems and earthing systems for NZ and Australian clients

  • Site visits, inspections and testing as required (e.g. soil resistivity testing)

  • Drafting design reports

  • Assisting with the preparation of proposals

  • Managing smaller projects or parts of larger projects

  • Interfacing directly with clients on projects and new opportunities

  • Providing technical expertise in accordance with project time, quality and cost objectives

  • Compiling budget estimates and pricing schedules

  • Providing mentorship and guidance to early professionals

Minimum Requirements

About You

You will have a solid grounding in primary and/or secondary electrical design and be able to demonstrate strong client-facing design management skills along with the following:

  • University degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering (or equivalent)

  • 6 years minimum relevant experience in transmission and distribution substation design

  • Knowledge of the transmission and distribution industry in NZ and/or design experience with NZ and/or Australian electrical utilities

  • Site experience/experience in projects being constructed and commissioned

  • Skilled in suitable software packages

  • Excellent organisation and communication skills

  • Self-motivated with a desire to progress career

Preferred Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer
