AECOM Associate Director/Principal - Water Design Lead in Christchurch, New Zealand

Job Summary

A great opportunity for an Associate Director to be a leader in our Three Waters Infrastructure Team based in Christchurch. You will lead the design and delivery of projects, on time, and within budget. You will also assist with identifying business opportunities and growth.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work on the full range of water projects from networks through to treatment plants and often complex, large scale projects that deliver great outcomes for our clients. As a key member of the leadership team, you will collaborate regularly with our national water leaders to support project pursuit efforts and to help harness the full value of our global expertise to create valued water solutions. You will also provide support to the water advisory and planning team with concept designs, support of business cases and asset management activities

Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Serving as lead engineer on design and/or design & construct projects.

  • Providing technical expertise for studies and design efforts.

  • Presenting complex technical solutions to clients.

  • Performing quality control reviews and verification of technical outputs developed by others.

  • Participating in development of technical proposals.

  • Providing estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on projects.

  • Mentoring junior team members.

Minimum Requirements

We are looking for a water/civil engineer with experience in design across all 3 waters and who has relevant local experience and established contacts along with:

  • 12+ years’ relevant experience preferably in a consulting environment with exposure to delivering large scale water infrastructure projects

  • Track record of leading successful complex designs

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Working knowledge of design software tools

  • Existing experience in the local market with an established client network is preferred

  • Collaborative approach to winning and delivering projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, or similar), or equivalent

  • CPEng status - desirable (or working towards)
