AECOM Technology Solutions Manager in Chicago, Illinois

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly experienced leader with expertise in applying emerging technologies to implement new transportation planning and smart mobility initiatives. This position will serve as a technology lead for AECOM’s central region and work closely with transportation planners and engineers to identify business opportunities in emerging and disruptive transportation technologies, to develop and execute business plans, to lead and conduct consulting projects in the general arena of transportation planning and engineering.

The candidate shall have a good understanding of cutting edge technologies to address mobility and safety challenges including but not limited to: smart mobility initiatives, connected and automated vehicles, big data, emerging mobility services / business models. The ideal candidate will be a forward thinking, creative and self-motivated person who is passionate about future technologies and associated business opportunities.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Under general direction, applies advanced skills to the position.

  • Resolves problems using advanced techniques and procedures.

  • Ability to plan, organize, and complete assigned tasks.

  • Maintains and organizes engineering documentation on an enterprise content management system which includes identification and generation of reports.

  • May be responsible for leading a departmental process as assigned by management.

  • May orient, train, assign, and check the work of lower level employees.

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS + 4 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor in Engineering or Urban Planning, or a related field;

  • 10 years of professional experiences including 5 years of management and business development experience.

  • Experience in transportation planning, traffic engineering, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), system engineering, project development, business development.

  • Experience in leading and mentoring staff to develop a highly-responsive, creative, high-morale workforce.

  • Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to work in a politically sensitive environment and convey complex and technical information to the client and the public.

  • Excellent writing skills to deliver business proposals, project plans etc.

  • A collaborative personality and high approachability and a passion for working with different teams.

The Preferred Candidate will have:

  • An advanced degree (Masters or Doctorate) in Engineering or Urban Planning, or a related field;

  • More than 15 years of professional experiences including 5 years of management and business development experience.

  • Demonstrated working experience in emerging transportation technologies.
