Job Summary

AECOM is seeking Sr. EHS Compliance Auditors in any of our offices in the central, midwestern, and western regions of the United States. The selected candidate will join AECOM’s EHS + Air practice within the Environment Business Line. The Environmental Compliance Auditor will primarily focus on supporting clients by conducing environmental and/or health & safety compliance audits in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct EHS compliance and management system audits.

  • Plan, participate, and lead EHS audits.

  • Develop and deliver EHS training to industrial clients.

  • Provide mentoring, guidance and coaching to new or less experienced staff.

  • Build and maintain effective client relationships.

  • Manage multiple complex projects within scope, budget, quality criteria and schedule.

  • Provide detailed regulatory interpretation of EHS laws and regulations to our clients.

  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging USEPA, OSHA, and state EHS regulatory requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • BS degree in engineering, physical sciences, safety, or related field.

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience conducting EHS regulatory compliance audit fieldwork.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent working knowledge of EHS regulations and consensus standards, including:

  • Clean Air Act (CAA) – emission inventories, permitting requirements, RMP, PSD, MACT, NSPS, ODS, GHG, and compliance assessments;

  • Clean Water Act (CWA) – NPDES and Indirect Discharge permitting and compliance;

  • Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) – CWS, NTNCWS permitting and compliance;

  • Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) – waste classification, management, and reporting;

  • Oil Pollution Act (OPA), - SPCC Plans and FRP;

  • Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA) – inventory evaluation, Tier II and Form R reporting;

  • Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA);

  • Federal Insecticide, Fungicide & Rodenticide Act (FIFRA);

  • Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA)

  • OSHA Compliance – 29 CFR 1910

  • Ability to travel 50% to 80%

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in engineering, physical sciences, safety, or related field

  • 10 years of EHS experience in a consulting, manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical, or refining industry.

  • Experience in developing effective business proposals for providing competitive, high value EHS auditing services

  • Experience in managing EHS programs, compliance audits or compliance program evaluations

  • Develop and deliver EHS training to industrial clients

  • Professional certification - CPEA, PE, CSP, CIH, or other equivalent certification

  • Experience with CFATS, DOT, REACH, ISO/RC 14001, and ISO 45001

  • Experience conducting Process Safety Management audits.

  • Relocation is not available for this position.

  • Offered rate of compensation (for Colorado locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $68,000 - 126,000.00.
