AECOM Safety, Health & Environment Specialist III in Chicago, Illinois

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Mid-Level Process Safety Services Consultant to be based in the AECOM Environment Business Line West Region.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Under minimal supervision, responsible for complex technical work in a wide range of environmental, health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements.

  • Maintains expert knowledge of specific government agency requirements.

  • Utilizes advanced techniques and diversified knowledge of environmental principles.

  • Assignments are usually self-initiated or directed by a project manager or technical subject matter expert.

  • Uses independent judgment and discretion in data analysis and problem resolution.

  • Recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment's to minimize hazards.

  • Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice.

  • Prepares reports and recommends corrective action.

  • Work includes technical responsibility for a major phase or component of a project.

  • Assist in the mentorship of early career professionals.

  • Marketing, proposal writing and bringing in new work and clients as well as supporting existing projects and clients.

Minimum Requirements

  • BS degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, physical sciences, safety, or related field

  • A minimum of 4 years of EHS experience in a consulting, manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical, or refining industry.

  • Valid U.S Driver's license is required for this role

  • Ability to travel 25% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in a consulting, manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical, or refining industry.

  • Regulatory compliance audit fieldwork experience.

  • Excellent working knowledge of EHS regulations and consensus standards

  • Regulatory compliance audit fieldwork experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience in developing effective business proposals for providing competitive, high value EHS auditing services

  • Professional certification - CSP, CPEA, PE, CIH, or other equivalent certification

  • Project management experience

  • Process Hazard Analysis experience with several different techniques.

  • Experience with Process Safety Management and Risk Management Planning.

Additional Information:

  • Due to nature of this role, U.S. Citizenship is required.

  • Offered rate of compensationwill be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range of this position is: $70,000.00 - $129,000.00
