AECOM is seeking a Job Captain for our Chicago, IL office.
The AECOM Chicago Corporate team, part of our Buildings + Place practice, is actively seeking talented, creative Job Captain for immediate employment. AECOM's Buildings + Places business line is dedicated to design excellence and integrated project solutions, with expertise including architecture, interiors, engineering, development, workplace strategy, economic planning, and master planning. Our Chicago Corporate team is focused on providing those services to our corporate clients, serving the breadth of their architecture, interiors, and engineering needs.
As a Job Captain, you will bring your recognized technical expertise to design-driven projects. You will help lead a team of architects and designers in the documentation of both architectural and interior architectural projects from concept design through delivery. In this role, you may:
In partnership with the Project Director and/or Project Manager, you will lead a team in the technical documentation and delivery of projects, including the preparation of alternative design solutions, contract documents and specifications.
Develop solutions to a wide range of technical challenges.
Manage client, team, and project coordination including coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape, and civil consultants.
Support communication between project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and permitting officials.
Professional Bachelor's degree (BArch) architecture
4+ years of relevant experience in design and resolving technical issues, or demonstrated equivalency
Licensed Architect, or approaching completion of the ARE (Architect Registration Examination)
Ability to accommodate limited domestic travel
Proficiency with BIM/Revit Architecture software, as well as experience with AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite as well as visualization software such as Rhino, SketchUp, Enscape, Lumion, and similar tools.
Working knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures.
A passion for design, a gift for technical documentation, and the creativity to solve technical issues.
Ability to lead integrated design teams of varying sizes to accomplish project delivery from concept through construction documents, followed by construction administration.
10+ years of relevant experience in design and resolving technical issues, or demonstrated equivalency
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Fluency in English is mandatory
Ability to work in a team setting, providing leadership and mentoring for more junior staff
Experience with interdisciplinary coordination of project documents and specifications
LEED Accreditation; WELL Accreditation a plus
