AECOM Energy Engineer in Chicago, Illinois
Job Summary
AECOM is seeking an Energy Engineer to join our growing Energy Team.
This team works on a variety of energy efficiency, resilience, and decarbonization initiatives for municipal, utility, and commercial and industrial clients. This position will perform technical tasks on a variety of projects including energy efficiency, distributed generation, renewable energy, energy master planning, district energy systems, net-zero buildings, monitoring base commissioning, grid-interactive buildings, and building decarbonization.
The successful candidate should be a dynamic, self-directed individual with an excellent understanding of building mechanical systems, distributed energy resources (electric vehicles, solar photovoltaic, battery storage), and energy system decarbonization. The candidate should also have a demonstrated ability to develop and deliver innovative energy that leverage the use of data analytics to identify, analyze, and specify energy reduction measures.

The responsibilities of this role also include, but may not be limited to, the following:
Demonstrating the ability to identify energy reduction opportunities through the analysis of large data sets
Interface regularly with the clients to identify project needs, communicate engineering solutions, and strengthen client relationships.
Assess opportunities for building decarbonization, including renewable energy feasibility and the benefits of electrification
Knowledge of ASHRAE Level I, II and III energy audit standards
Conduct energy audits and site investigations for large commercial, multifamily, and industrial clients
Identify and quantify energy conservation opportunities associated with lighting, HVAC systems, energy management and control systems and building envelope
Analyze utility data to determine baseline customer energy performance parameters and develop applicable rate structures used for cost savings calculations
Perform energy calculations to identify and validate energy conservation measures (ECMs)
Develop cost estimates associated with ECMs to determine ROI
Write technical reports to communicate findings to clients and stakeholders
Developing and maintaining good client relationships across the portfolio

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
4+ years of relevant experience in energy services or related industry
Experience must include:
Conducting energy audits and site investigations and
Renewable energy assessment, design, or development
Energy conservation projects associated with lighting, HVAC Systems, energy management and control systems
Fluency with Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree preferred
Related licenses or credentials including: Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Certified Energy Manager (CEM or EMIT), LEED AP
Experience or education related to energy policy, project management, or economics
Support energy consulting services to clients of various sizes
Experience that includes: Federal government, utilities, commercial real estate, advanced manufacturing and/or life sciences
Prefer candidates with demonstrated client-facing experience able to effectively communicate with and listen to clients and internal business groups
Modeling/Coding Experience: Energy modeling software experience (eQUEST, Energy Plus, Trane Trace, etc.), R/Shiny, etc. helpful
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with fault detection and diagnostic analytics platforms such as SkySpark and similar platforms),
