AECOM Electrical Engineering Manager in Chicago, Illinois

Job Summary

The Transportation Division of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Electrical Engineering Manager. The position will be based in the Chicago, IL office but occasional travel to job sites will be required.

The responsibilities and qualifications of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage a team of electrical engineers in the delivery of a diverse range of projects

  • Serve as the Engineer of Record for drawings, specifications and reports prepared under their direction

  • Research, develop, design, specify and witness the testing of electrical systems, equipment, components, and materials, applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering

  • Perform lighting design, review deliverables, and perform quality reviews of roadway lighting and electrical engineering designs

  • Develop lighting reports and prepare specifications, special provisions, and cost estimates

  • Organize and conduct site visits for the purpose of data collection and evaluation of electrical systems, equipment, components, and materials for projects with and without well-defined scopes

  • Develop and prepare scopes of work for roadway lighting projects

  • Develop, design, and specify equipment, components, and materials for lightning protection, lighting, lighting control, fire alarm, security, and telecommunication systems

  • Direct activities to verify installed electrical systems, equipment, components, and materials conform to the requirements of project contract documents

  • Coordinate with civil, structural, architectural, and mechanical discipline leads as required to effectively engineer, design, and specify the electrical power, control, and lighting systems for projects

  • Complete assigned engineering and design tasks in accordance with client specified criteria and applicable codes and standards

  • Assist with marketing outreach including preparation of proposals and client presentations

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus eight (8) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Valid US driver's license required

  • Registration and designation as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Illinois

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited school

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with a minimum of five years of experience designing typical and complex roadway lighting projects for IDOT, Illinois Tollway, Chicago Department of Transportation, or other public agencies in the last 10 years\ Additional Information:

  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

  • Relocation assistance is not provided for this role.

  • Experience with photometric analysis, design calculations, final plan review, and QC/QA of continuous freeway, complete interchange, major urban arterial, tunnel, and major river bridge lighting projects

  • Familiarity with industrial controls, motor controls, National Electric Code, and basic low voltage power

  • Strong communication and writing skills

  • Design of cathodic protection systems

  • Familiarity with industrial controls, motor controls, National Electric Code, and basic low voltage power

  • Experience with CADD software (AutoCAD/MicroStation)
