AECOM Aviation Project Manager / Sr. Engineer in Chicago, Illinois

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Senior Aviation Engineer for immediate employment for any location with an AECOM office in the Central Region of the United States. Candidate will be responsible for the management of one or more airfield design projects, in accordance with the written project/construction documents and established AECOM policies and procedures. This hire will plans and direct the design of aviation project(s) through the planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and closeout phase of the projects.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Administer one or more design projects, to include responsibility for budget, schedule and quality adherence and performance, in accordance with the contract documents and established procedures.
Oversee the design & construction support activities for each Aviation projects at Air Carrier and General Aviation Airports.
Manage and coordinate the project design team, which may consist of one or more Design Engineer(s), CADD Designers and
other support staff.
Provide documentation as required by client for the administration and execution of each project.
Evaluate and provide recommendations for changes and/or modifications to the design and construction scope of services.
Participate in marketing and business development activities including client interaction, conference attendance, proposal preparation and presentations for new work.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
10+ years of experience in designing aviation projects at air carrier airports.
Professional Engineering (PE) license, or ability to obtain.
Knowledge of and experience in writing a Construction Safety Plan, project specifications, a Design Report, a QA/QC Plan, a Document Control Plan, and a Project Procedures Manual.
Knowledge of the FAA Advisory Circulars (AC’s), FAA Design criteria, and FAA and ADOT Grant Processes and Procedures.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Microsoft Project, and AUTOCAD Civil 3D.
Ability to design/manage multiple aviation projects and work with staff.
Must be able to obtain commercial airfield security clearance.
Must possess a valid Class C driver’s license, and be able to obtain certification to drive in AOA movement areas.
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required.
Experience designing construction projects in an active airfield environment, Part 139 airports preferred.
Design/management experience at commercial airports with the AECOM Central Region.
