Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Control Room Operator for employment in Chesterfield, MO.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides information to the traveling public related to current travel conditions, maintains traffic interruption reports and manages incidents on the metropolitan roadways from the Control Room

  • Assesses large volumes of data (both static and real-time) from a wide variety of sources to detect possible roadway incidents

  • Monitors the Advanced Transportation Management System software, checks road sensor data and confirms the data using CCTV video

  • Maintains telephone or radio communications with first responders, field technicians, 911 Operators and public service agencies

  • Determines the facts and severity of traffic incidents and prepares the information for dissemination to the motoring public

  • Responsible for the maintenance, quality, accuracy and timeliness of all information disseminated, including Dynamic Message Signs, Changeable Message Signs, public traveler information websites and internal notifications

  • Monitors First Responder agencies and various communication channels to assess traffic conditions

  • Activates appropriate response(s) to detected and/or reported incidents; includes dispatch of first responders and location assistance to active event scenes

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma

  • Proficiency using Microsoft products and ATMS Software Suite

  • Self-motivated and excellent at multi-tasking

  • Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast paced environment

  • Thorough knowledge of the local roadway system

  • Ability and flexibility to work a variety of shifts

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates degree in related field or equivalent mix of education and practical experience

  • 2+ years of experience in a call center or control room environment

  • An intimate knowledge of state roadways, including their alternate names, the jurisdiction they are located, where the jurisdiction changes and alternate routes when available

  • National Incident Management System, ICS 100 and ICS 700 Certificates.

  • Previous experience as a transportation Traffic Management Center Operator
