We are currently seeking a Landscape Architect to join our team. As a member of one of the UK’s largest and most diverse landscape practices, you will take a lead on a range of types and sizes of projects, including strategic planning, major infrastructure, urban regeneration and environmental enhancement schemes. We will consider applicants with a wide range of experience but a proven track record in landscape planning, including LVIA and TVIA, is preferable.
We are looking for a team player with good technical skills who wishes to be involved in the development of innovative, cost effective and buildable solutions in an environment that is collaborative, stimulating and challenging. The role would suit a self-motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic team. The role will ideally be based in Leeds but will support the wider team, principally across the north of England, but also nationally and so some travelling between offices will be expected. Nationally our Landscape Architecture team comprises some 102 staff and provides one-stop access to a variety of services.
The team provides services ranging from feasibility studies, detailed design and construction on a wide range of contracts and also supports other AECOM business lines including transport and infrastructure. Our Leeds team is involved in a number of high profile projects with a variety of clients from the private and public sector. Our leading clients include Leicester City Council, Homes and Communities Agency, HS2, the National Trust, the Environment Agency and numerous Local Authorities, as well as leading contractors and developers.
The appropriate level of technical expertise is required in order that the job / project accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the necessary standard:
Clear communication, including the ability to write concise technical reports and to contribute positively to conference calls, meetings and workshops.
Ability to work collaboratively and iteratively within a multi-disciplinary design team.
Assist in the management of projects, including contractual, financial and programme management.
Establish strong working relationships with other members of the landscape team and internal teams across the business.
Contribute to securing and delivering new work.
Produce or oversee the production of drawings and other technical documentation using appropriate software, with the necessary level of detail as required at various stages of development: strategies, conceptual design, detailed design and production information.
Be aware of and understand the AECOM procedures, their importance and their application to projects
CMLI with up to two years post Chartership experience. Candidates within the last quarter of P2C will also be considered.
Fluency in English and ability to communicate effectively.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of the UK legal and planning system with respect to landscape architecture.
Technically competent in preparing landscape and/or townscape and visual impact assessments and appraisals and evidence-base documents to support development plans and policies in accordance with best practice.
An understanding of project management, including financial control and reporting and programme management and ability to manage own budgets.
The successful candidate will be competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Cloud software.
Experience of some or all of the following would also be very useful: ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civils 3D, Revit, LSS or ProjectWise.
Full UK driving licence.
Landscape Institute accredited Bachelors degree, Diploma and/or Masters degree.
Licentiate member of the Landscape Institute.
