AECOM Principal Environmental Consultant in Chesterfield, United Kingdom

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior/Principal EIA Consultant to join our Minerals and Waste team within Environmental & Sustainability (E&S) business unit in Chesterfield (or alternatively, Nottingham, Leeds, Birmingham or Chelmsford) to manage and deliver environmental inputs to mineral and waste projects. You will potentially provide environmental inputs from early strategy development, project design and management, as well as liaising with technical consultants and the planners, managing the preparation of EIAs, preparing environmental statements and co-ordinating the submission of planning applications.
We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about delivering effective environmental inputs and positively influencing the environmental performance of mineral and waste projects for our clients. You must be able to demonstrate experience in managing multidisciplinary environmental inputs to complex and large-scale projects, working closely with technical disciplines to review and mitigate potential environmental effects, engaging and consulting across a wide range of audiences, as well as effectively managing resources and budgets.
The successful candidates will be supported by our established E&S team across the UK which includes over 650 staff.
Your role will include:
Leading managing and coordinating multidisciplinary environmental inputs across a range of minerals and waste projects, with a focus on the management of EIAs in support of gaining development consent. Includes managing the preparation of EIA screening and scoping reports and Environmental Statements, including the technical review of specialist chapters.
Liaising with clients and internal supply teams, including working collaboratively with design teams to ensure that environmental considerations are appropriately taken into account
Working in partnership with other members of the E&S team, managing resources, delegating activities, monitoring and managing project budgets.
Supporting and leading the identification of new business opportunities and associated fee and technical proposal development, which will include promoting AECOM’s E&S services to both internal and external audiences.
You will have experience and a passion for the minerals and waste sector and in developing sustainable environmental solutions.
Experience commensurate with specified job responsibilities.
An excellent understanding of the EIA processes (including screening and scoping), environmental assessment methods and applicable planning legislation.
Experience of using CAD
Confident engaging with a wide variety of stakeholder groups.
The ability to lead and work collaboratively as part of an established team, supervising members of staff as applicable.
Excellent verbal and report writing skills, including technical reviewing – all with an attention to detail.
Excellent project management skills, including experience of programming, staff resource management, and effective budget management.
A willingness to travel.
A degree in a relevant environmental discipline
Appropriate professional membership - IEMA (practitioner or above).
