AECOM’s A/E Design Center located in Chelmsford, MA is nationally recognized as center of excellence that focuses on the design of large, complex, multi-discipline, high-profile water and wastewater treatment and pumping facilities for both traditional and design-build projects. The Design Center is comprised of approximately 75 staff and includes a full complement of disciplines including: Structural, Geotechnical, Civil, Architectural, Building Mechanical (i.e., HVAC, Plumbing & Fire Protection), Process Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) as well as CAD/Revit Specialists.
Interesting design projects that we are currently working on or have completed in the past year include: McLoughlin Point WWTF (new), Victoria BC ($275M Design Build project), MWRA Deer Island Treatment Plant Upgrades, Boston MA (several projects; $20M), Ridgefield, CT WWTF Upgrade ($38M), Orleans, MA WWTF (new), ($25M), MCA Mongolia WTP (new), ($100M), Portsmouth, NH WWTF Upgrade ($72.5M), Meriden, CT WWTF Upgrade ($38M), Woonsocket, RI WTP (new), ($57M Design Build project), Sand Island WWTF Upgrade, ($500M), Stockton, CA WWTF Upgrade, ($190M Design Build project), New Castle, PA WWTF Upgrade, ($60M), Pittsfield, MA WWTF Upgrade, ($51M), Wallingford, CT WWTF Upgrade ($10M), South Essex Sewage District WWTF Combined Heat and Power ($5M)
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineer for employment in the Chelmsford, MA office. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Support the Structural Dept. with the layout and design of water and wastewater treatment facilities
Support and/or lead project teams
Develop structural technical specifications, plans, elevations, section and details
Prepare engineering related calculations
Verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards / practices
Coordinate with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed
Delegate, oversee and review work prepared by other structural engineers within the department
Perform condition assessments, site visits, and construction inspections as needed
Mentor less experienced staff
Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
2+ years of experience
Master's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
2+ years of experience as a Structural Engineer
