Job Summary

AECOM has an excellent career opportunity for a creative, highly talented Project Manager for immediate employment in our Chelmsford, MA location which serves as our home office to support USAID infrastructure programs.

This individual will be the day-to-day liaison with in-country Design Managers, Construction Managers, etc. and will be the link that manages and oversees the support provided by the home office team. In this position s/he will assist in the development of task order proposals, independently manage task budgets, schedules, and product quality, and support the in-country management team(s). The Project Manager will oversee assigned home office project staff on a variety of projects for all phases of work related to transportation, institutional type buildings, highways, and water and wastewater facilities.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Works with regional operations staff to identify and commit appropriate company resources to accomplish project goals

  • Controls overall home office project cost and scope, schedule, quality of work, and project controls

  • Makes decisions concerning approved expenditures to meet project budget

  • Mentors and develops staff, providing leadership and an environment which encourages teamwork, initiative and growth

  • Participates in building and maintaining a positive client relationship

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of science degree in civil or environmental engineering (or closely-related discipline), construction management, or related-degree; or a combination of equivalent experienc and education

  • 10+ years of project management experience in water/wastewater, civil, or environmental engineering, construction management, or closely related discipline

  • Previous experience working in international development (infrastructure)

  • Previous experience with USAID, USACE, MCC, USTDA, or related US Federal Agencies

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a project scope within an assigned budget

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or related licensure/registration

  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter with solid writing and verbal communication skills

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project Planner scheduling software

  • Ability to travel overseas at least 20% of the time

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in related field

  • 15+ years of experience in the design and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure

  • AutoCAD experience a plus

  • Familiarity with energy efficiency/sustainability a plus
