AECOM is seeking an Environmental Planner to be based out of Boston, Massachusetts but can work out of the Chelmsford, Massachusetts or Manchester, New Hampshire offices occasionally.

This position is expected to begin in December 2023.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs desktop site reviews for identification of environmental resources utilizing public facing websites and databases.

  • Reviews transportation design plans for potential environmental impacts. Transportation design can include transit stations, roadway, utility, or railroad track components.

  • Prepares and reviews documents, reports, letters, presentations, technical memoranda, and other work products with a focus on regulatory compliance, technical adequacy, and impact assessment.

  • Interfaces with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.

  • Prepares and reviews planning, engineering studies, reports, and permit applications with a focus on regulatory compliance and technical adequacy with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA), natural and water resource evaluations, and contaminated and hazardous materials management.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environemtal Science or related field.

  • 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with wetland delineations and Land Use permitting.

  • Experience developing regulatory permit applications.

  • Familiar with local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Experience with linear utility or transportation projects.

  • Transit or transportation experience in DOT agencies.

  • Experience with the preparation of environmental documents.

  • Highly motivated and accountable.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite as well as overall strong computer proficiency.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent technical writing, research, analytic, and graphic skills.

  • We are interested in every qualified candidate eligible to work in the United States. Permanent residency sponsorship is available for current H1-B visa holders in the United States.
