The Environment business line's 4,400 talented environmental professionals provide environmental solutions for private and public clients around the world. We offer environmental management services that meet client needs for feasibility, impact analysis, and operational compliance as well as remediation, restoration and reuse of impacted property.
Our Remediation Services team is looking for enthusiastic Environmental Graduates. AECOM Remediation Services occupies a global footprint, serving clients in many sectors including property and development, oil and gas, industrial and manufacturing, transportation and the public sector. The team has a well-established network of specialists around the world which enriches the prospects for graduates, allow the learning of advanced technology applications and contribute to our best practice and strong safety culture.
When a graduate starts with us we pair them with an experienced member of the team who will guide and mentor them through their initial period working on live projects.
The position includes work onenvironmental (soil or groundwater) remediation system evaluation, design, and monitoring, and/or in the evaluation and design of wastewater and air pollution control systems. Projects may include designing and undertaking desk studies, site investigations, risk assessments and remediation solutions including data procurement and analysis, drawing and specification development, factual and interpretative report writing.
General duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to;
To perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
To gather and correlate basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures
To work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests
To propose approaches to solve new problems encountered
To coordinate field service subcontractors and supervise ground investigation and remediation works.
To collect and evaluate soil and groundwater samples/data during assessment and remedial action activities at various sites.
To ensure that health and safety issues are addressed throughout the life of a project.
To learn the AECOM quality management system and ensure its effective implementation by the team for all projects and proposals.
To consider and implement AECOM’s principles of environmental protection and sustainability within the context of the Remediation Services business.
Specific tasks may include but are not limited to;
Environmental sampling and options evaluations and problem definition
Development of site layouts, grading plans, PFDs, & P&IDs
Equipment specifications, construction oversight, system troubleshooting and optimization
Report preparation, other related tasks.
Preparing conceptual and detailed design packages (construction drawings and technical specifications)
Supporting calculations and work plans in support of environmental remediation system designs.
The position involves local travel to project sites to collect samples, oversee remediation construction contractors, gather information and present results of study and design work.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Builds analytic and design skills.
Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an
Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
- BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Bachelor's of Science or Master's of Science degree in Engineering (Environmental, Chemical, Civil, Mechanical or Structural) with a strong undergraduate background in environment subject areas
Practical application of engineering concepts
Working knowledge of MS Office applications.
Autocad and/or GIS proficiency a plus
Ability to work productively in a collaborative multi-disciplinary team environment, and demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn
Solid attention to detail and thorough approach to work with ability to understand/comply with the big picture/goals of a project
Possess strong logic skills
Good interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable liaising with clients, colleagues and sub-contractors alike.
Flexible with working hours and locations, frequent travel within 1 – 2 hrs drive of home office, and occasionally further afield.
Excellent written and verbal skills (in English); fluency in other languages is an advantage.
Strong quality and time management and ability to multi-task.
Self-starter, develops and delivers work under own initiative.
Commercial awareness for business development, marketing, and proposal preparation.
Full Driving License.
