AECOM Stormwater / Drainage Project Manager in Charlotte, North Carolina

Job Summary

This Senior Stormwater Engineering role within our Charlotte, NC AECOM office offers a mix of direct design and client-facing work. Mentor junior staff while working on a combination of local and regional projects with a variety of scopes and applications. With an emphasis on site/civil drainage and stormwater design projects, you will work on projects from the planning through permitting and construction phases.

Working with industry leading senior team members, the successful candidate will also have opportunities to develop new business and lead small to mid-sized stormwater planning and design projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering or related discipline

  • 6+ years of experience in site/civil drainage and/or stormwater management engineering and design

  • Occasional business travel may be required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in NC and/or SC or have the ability to obtain within 6 months

  • The following skills are highly preferred:

  • project engineer skills with some experience managing planning and design projects

  • strong technical engineering expertise in site/civil drainage design efforts

  • demonstrated time management skills, work ethic, and attention to detail

  • ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with technicians, designers, engineers and project managers for the preparation of high-quality work products

  • ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with clients, regulatory agency representatives and members of the public when required to represent the company

  • strong communication skills in coordinating with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public may be necessary to accomplish assigned objectives.

  • valid driver's license

  • sound foundation in the planning, permitting, and design of site/civil drainage and/or stormwater management projects

  • Master's Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering a plus

  • Proven excellent leadership skills, and demonstrated ability to successfully work in diverse teams

  • Experience working on projects by “alternative delivery” approaches a plus (design/build, progressive design/build, construction management at risk, etc.)

  • Experience in preparation of engineering proposals for submission to clients

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3-D software

  • Demonstrated successful client relationship skills as a project engineer and be capable of assisting senior staff in growing and securing business opportunities
