Job Summary

AECOM is seeking qualified candidates to fill the role of Director of Operations (DOO) for the Southeast Region (SER). The candidate will report to the Southeast Regional Business Line Leader (RBLL) for the Water Business Line with dotted line reporting to the SER Chief Operating Officer (COO) on financial reporting, forecasting, and key risk issues. This role serves as the business manager that drives the financial execution of the P&L and regularly evaluates the efficiency of the business and implements improvements to promote profitability. Candidates will be expected to reside in or relocate to the Southeast Region. Occasional business travel may be required.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Leads development and execution of pricing strategy for both internal and external resources in conjunction with Regional Market Segment Leaders (RMSLs) & Business Line Department Leaders

  • Responsible for monthly forecasting and operation decisions to drive forecast

  • Provides P&L reporting to RBLL

  • Coordinates with COO, Regional Finance Directors (RFDs), Delivery Excellence, Health & Safety, and Office of Risk Management

  • Implements Delivery Excellence directives

  • Fosters a culture of excellence in Project Management and Project Delivery

  • Responsible for operational efficiency, effective resource deployment, and resulting financial success of the business

  • Key performance indicators include: Safety, EBITA, MU (SCM x Utilization), Staff Turnover, Working Capital

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline

  • 15+ years of experience in financial management and reporting

  • Experience in the successful management of business financials for engineering and consulting contracts, in particular for government agencies and clients

  • Team building experience and conflict resolution skills

  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with technicians, designers, engineers and project managers for the preparation of high quality work products

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to travel

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

  • Must posses a valid Driver’s license and be able to drive rental vehicles on behalf of the company

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline

  • 20+ years of experience in financial management and reporting
