Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and motivated Mid-level Environmental Engineer for immediate employment in the Chantilly, VA office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrates experience with environmental projects and related experience such as conducting site visits, gathering data, managing data in Excel, conducting research, report writing, and sampling

  • Independently perform most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected, except for complex and unusual situations in which case he/she must be proactive and ask questions of supervisory staff for guidance/support

  • Professionally present themselves as a positive face of the company to current and potential clients

  • Interacts with clients, understands their needs, and converses with regulators on their behalf

  • Local travel required and continental US travel anticipated

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering

  • 2+ years of related experience working with Environmental Engineering

  • Experience with preparing SPCC Plans and Spill Prevention/SPCC

  • Experience with Environmental Assessments/Phase 1, permits and surveys

  • Experience collecting water and soil sampling, samples of groundwater from wells, collecting subsurface soil samples, collecting groundwater measurements from wells

  • Experience workign with CAD, hazardous waste, auditing and compliance

  • Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet programs

  • Ability to be detail-oriented, multi-task and meet deadlines

  • Ability to evaluate problems and develop creative and functional solutions

  • Experience with asbestos sampling, assessments and compliance

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • EIT, with desire to obtain PE


  • 40-Hour OSHA Health and Safety Training
