We are currently recruiting Technologists - Railway Civils Design to support the execution of a large portfolio of local and international railway projects.

The Technologists will conduct assignments in Railway Civils Engineering usually as part of a project team.

  • This will include general civils design within the railway environment relating to drainage, earthworks, retaining walls, platforms, buildings, concrete and steel structures, car parks and access roads, etc.

  • The role will require the technologists to conduct assignments in general civils engineering.

  • Plan, organise and manage civils aspects of complex railway projects. Make recommendations on alternate solutions to engineering problems.

  • Prepare and present technical plans and reports. Institute changes in methods, and designs.

  • Under Supervision, they will perform work following agreed-upon budget and schedule.

  • When required, the technologists will collect and analyse information from specific discipline and interdisciplinary project BIM models.

  • Use computer software as a tool for solving fundamental engineering problems.

  • They will be expected to coordinate with other discipline Engineers as applicable for the continuity of the design process.

  • Participates in design progress and coordination meetings.

  • Check and ensure the quality of model production by BIM/CAD teams for accuracy to design instructions. Actively seek information, opportunities to participate and contribute, and develop efficiencies and effectiveness.

  • It will be expected of them to contribute by solving problems and applying experience or theoretical knowledge to atypical assignments.

  • Assist with the design content by applying both design and technical knowledge to ensure high-quality outputs under project timelines.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Demonstrable appropriate level of experience and understanding of design of civil infrastructure within railway environments.

  • Computer literate and conversant with MS Office suite and relevant engineering software packages that may include Bentley and, Autodesk software.

  • Ability to work within a collaborative environment, whilst having a dedicated approach to working within and meeting project deadlines.

  • Good communication skills when dealing with internal design teams, Clients, and partners.

  • 4+ years' post qualification experience

Qualifications

  • BTech Degree in Civil Engineering and registered as a Candidate

  • Technologist or Professional Technician with ECSA.
