Job Summary

Nuclear Waste Partnership, an LLC of AECOM, is seeking a

Librarian/Staff Assistant to be based in our Carlsbad, New Mexico location.

The successful candidate will serve as the lead WIPP Technical Librarian while also supporting numerous communication activities for the WIPP Communications Department. The approximate duty separations would be 40 percent library and 60 percent communication support. Additionally, the successful candidate will complete all required training within twelve (12) months of hire date. This position will Support the Joint Information Center and the Emergency Operations Center. As such, the successful candidate may be required to be on call at least once a month. Communication activities would include, but are not limited to the following responsibilities:

  • Produce and review various written materials for both internal and external audiences.

  • Support internal and external events that support WIPP and the WIPP mission.

  • Produce a weekly report that will be provided to NWP's corporate office.

  • Provide tours of the surface and underground WIPP facility. Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization.

  • Answer the WIPP 1-800 public phone line and provide answers to questions or transfer to appropriate individual.

  • Make necessary department purchases using company P-card

  • Library activities would include, but are not limited to the following responsibilities:

  • Research, locate and provide various technical standards for various groups/activities.

  • Create electronic documents.Complete necessary paperwork to purchase necessary standards/documents.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications or similar field of study, or Associate’s degree in above listed fields of study with two (2) years of related experience, or

  • High School Diploma or GED with four (4) years of experience is required.

  • Must have strong writing and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Due to the nature of work, candidates must be US Citizens.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of the WIPP facility and its mission.

  • Experience researching and obtaining technical standards, including necessary copyright agreements.

  • Experience producing written material for audiences with varying levels of understanding regarding the subject matter.
