Job Summary

Location: Southeastern United States and United States territories in the Caribean

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Construction Superintendent for upcoming projects in the Southeastern United States and United States territories in the Caribbean. This position is contingent upon award of work with the expected hiring time frame to be in 30 - 60 days.

Work will include:

  • Manage the planning and coordination of onsite subcontractors’ work activities for a particular project according to government contract and client guidelines.

  • Be onsite to monitor subcontractor personnel to ensure adherence with project plans and adherence to quality control of all installations.

  • Ensure implementation of a sound and compliant safety program that creates a safe and health work environment through the job site and adheres to OSHA safety and government record keeping requirements.

  • By being onsite and present, manage and advise on quality and productivity issues and monitor work performance and productivity of subcontractors to ensure project plans and schedule are followed and project is executed effectively and within budget.

  • Advise senior level management of potential problems,or scheduling difficulties, seek solutions to circumvent or mitigate such conflicts.

  • Develop and monitor CPM schedule, work sequences, manpower utilization, material handling and storage requirements and equipment use according to government and contractual guidelines.

  • Interfaces with client, architect and design professionals to ensure compliance to design intent and owner satisfaction. Facilitates discovery and correction of contract document “errors and omissions” and problem solving so as to reduce the cost incurred.

  • Comply and complete all governmental, internal and external record keeping requirements,

  • Use current construction management system to perform record-keeping tasks including, composing daily diaries, maintaining project logs and retrieving RFIs, submittal logs and agreements.

  • Build good communications between project management, field engineering, estimating and specialty contractors to ensure construction complies with plans, specifications and company quality standards and that the project is completed on time and within budget.

The successful Superintendent will have experience with similar projects of this type or similar construction. The Superintendent will work closely with senior management, construction team, designers, subcontractors, safety personnel, and clients. The Construction Superintendent will be an integral member of our construction practice.

  • Play a key role in the success of our Federal construction and design-build practice

  • Implement and manage the construction of various projects as part of multiple contracts with the Government on base

  • Responsible for complying with the Quality Control Requirements and compliance with the Three Phase of Quality Control plan for design-build and construction projects to ensure conformance with project plans and specifications

Schedule and coordinating crews, managing budgets for construction, reviewing submittals for compliance, material take offs, organizing work crews, production meetings with the Government representatives, and assisting in reporting production for schedule updates

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 5+ years experience as a construction superintendent, manager, or project manager with direct responsibility for construction, compliance with contract specifications, and OSHA/EM 385.1.1 safety requirements

  • Experience with a General Contractor overseeing multiple subcontractors as well as self-perform experience with building and industrial projects (i.e. – Concrete footings/slabs with CMU walls, steel joists/beams, kitchen equipment, site work, paving, underground utilities, heavy civil, industrial treatment facilities, lift stations, communications, electrical, and data)

  • Knowledge and experience with the requirements of EM 385.1.1 and have experience in the areas of hazard identification, safety compliance, and sustainability

  • Must be able to work at remote sites on military bases OCONUS and CONUS

  • Due to the nature of work, candidates must be a US Citizen

Must have a valid driver’s license and passport

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with $20M + Contracts for military bases/Government Facilities is a plus

  • Prior federal Design Build experience
