Our Cardiff Mechanical Engineering team work on a huge variety of revolutionary projects in a wide range of sectors in Wales, the UK and internationally. You will join a group of over 100 talented multi-disciplinary Engineers from a diverse range of backgrounds.
The team provides services ranging from project management, feasibility studies, detailed design and construction on a wide range of contracts and also supports other AECOM business lines where their projects. Our Local Engineering team is involved in a number of high profile projects with a variety of clients.
Our clients are from the private and public sector and our leading UK clients include SBMUHB and ABUHB Health boards, leading contractors, i.e. Kier, Morgan Sindall, BAM, Laing O’Rourke as well as developers for overseas clients.
We have an impressive portfolio of major national and international infrastructure projects. Some of the high-profile projects that the Building Engineering Cardiff team have been instrumental in delivering, include:
The Grange University Hospital – Specialist and Critical Care Centre (SCCC)
SBMUHB Framework works – MEP design for a number of technical skills, i.e. MRI, LINAC, CT Scanners, Operating Suites, etc.

The appropriate level of technical expertise is required in order that the Job / Project Accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the necessary standard:
Preparation of indoor environmental audits and environmental impact assessments in order to determine suitability of various system usage.
Responsible for carrying out environment-related desk-based research and fieldwork to collect, analyse and interpret indoor environmental data to determine their validity, quality and significance
Preparation of design drawings, design notes, reports and performance specifications
Using specialist computer-aided design software, i.e. Microsoft Office, IES, Revit, AutoCAD etc.
You will have strong development skills and have the ability to develop and manage the work of others if and when required.
Ability to work collaboratively and iteratively within a multi-disciplinary design team.
Establishing strong working relationships with other internal teams, particularly within AECOM’s transportation division
Be aware of and understand the AECOM IMS procedures, their importance and their application to projects.
Be Degree qualified in Mechanical or Indoor Environmental Engineering, or other related course
Have achieved, or be in the process of achieving Professional Engineering status via an appropriate professional institution.
Have experience in the field of indoor environmental design with experience across a range of project scales
Have experience of leading teams on multi-disciplinary projects.
Have a desire to help develop and support the next generation of engineers.
Have an interest and ability to work with the best UK based and international Clients and understand architectural intent.
Be able to develop strong relationships with clients, collaborators and colleagues alike.
Be able to demonstrate strong commercial awareness.
Have design experience of working big scale project projects.
Have enthusiasm in driving a Digital agenda including automation via software such as Revit to deliver organisational value, as well as utilising visualisation tools to communicate engineering concepts.
Have experience of delivery of projects through construction and commissioning stages.
Experience of some or all of the following is also highly desirable: Revit, AutoCad
Be Degree qualified in Mechanical, or other related course
Have achieved, or be in the process of achieving Professional Engineering status via an appropriate professional institution, for example CIBSE
Completed LCEA training
