Job Description
AECOM, a global leader in engineering, design, and construction, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sustainability Consultant with expertise in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions quantification and management. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing AECOM's commitment to sustainability.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (i.e., chemical engineering, green engineering, environmental science/engineering)
5+ years of intermediate-level experience in GHG Canadian regulatory inventory quantification and/or verification
2+ years of direct experience with GHG accounting standards (such as the GHG Protocol, ISO 14064) and supporting corporate emissions management
Previous experience working as a technical consultant
Proven ability to lead projects and small technical teams
Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting, presentations, and proposal contributions
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience conducting Scope 3 value chain GHG assessments (screening level and detailed quantification)
Progressing towards a professional engineering designation (P.Eng.)
Knowledge of energy efficiency, GHG management, and decarbonization mechanisms and technologies
Familiarity with emissions-reduction target setting approaches, including the Science-based Target Initiative
Direct experience in supporting emissions management within the oil and gas (upstream and midstream) and energy/utilities sectors
Understanding of low carbon technologies, renewable energy, and emerging technologies such as CCUS, hydrogen, etc.
Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks such as TCFD, CDP, GRI, SASB, and others
Experience in GHG emission reduction initiatives and defining decarbonization strategies with cost/benefit analysis
Experience with mobile emission sources (e.g., cars, trucks, construction/mining equipment, etc.)
Independent research and analytical skills with a keen interest in staying updated on new standards, certifications, and technologies
Additional Assets:
ISO 14064-1, 14064-2, and/or 14064-3 certification
Understanding of embodied carbon modeling
Experience in conducting life cycle assessments with a focus on carbon
Familiarity with climate and ESG disclosure
Knowledge and experience with the carbon offset market
