AECOM is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Senior Community Engagement and Communication Specialist to join our team of community engagement, communication, graphic design, facilitation and web design specialists.

Key Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with multi-disciplinary teams and project managers to develop strategic community engagement, communication and outreach strategies for environmental assessments, community plans, and infrastructure development projects

  • Leading, planning and coordinating public and stakeholder engagement activities, including in—person and virtual workshops, advisory committees, community meetings, and public open houses

  • Managing communication materials including key messages, FAQs, presentations, digital media, notices, story boards, and discussion guides

  • Leading Indigenous consultations and engagement in Alberta following Aboriginal Consultation Office (ACO) regulatory application process level 1, 2 and 3 including but not limited to pre-consultation assessments, participant involvement program, records of consultation.

  • Evaluating the effectiveness of engagement programs and services

  • Assisting with the management of project budgets and schedules, internal and external document control, and project records

  • Leading and supporting the growth of the community engagement portfolio through the development of project proposals and other business development activities

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree and/or technical diploma; preferred fields are public relations, community engagement, communication, or environmental planning

  • 8 years+ experience in strategic community engagement and communication

  • Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • 9+ years professional writing experience including: plain language, web-content, internal and external communications

  • Experience with government relations, media relations, public relations, stakeholder analysis and facilitation are an asset

  • Experience with Indigenous consultation and engagement in Alberta

  • Experience with socio-economic and land resource use studies

  • Experience with Adobe Suite, WordPress, Survey Monkey, Engagement HQ, Social Pinpoint, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WebEx

  • IAP2, CPRS, IABC, IAF membership or certification

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and remotely if required
