AECOM Carpenter Journeyman in Calgary, Alberta

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking Carpenter Journeyman to join the Shell project team in Calgary, Alberta. This is a full-time temporary position until February 2021.

Carpenters construct, renovate, erect and repair buildings and other structures made of wood, wood substitutes, steel and other materials. In commercial or industrial jobs, they build concrete forms, scaffolding, bridges, trestles, tunnels, shelters, towers and other structures. In maintenance jobs, they repair and remodel existing structures of all kinds. Some Carpenters specialize in one type of work such as framing, bench work or finishing work.

Carpenter Journeyman will be expected to do but are not limited to the following tasks:

  • Reading drawings and/or getting instructions from a supervisor

  • Doing the layout including selecting materials, planning sequences and methods of work, and measuring and marking materials to avoid costly mistakes or omissions

  • Cutting and shaping materials and joining them with nails, screws, bolts or glue

  • Checking completed units to be sure they are level, square, plumb and the right size, shape and location

  • Work accurately and economically, and follow national and local building codes

Conditions of Employment for this position are:

  1. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Background Check policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, the role must complete a satisfactory pre-employment Background Check. This may consist of all or a combination of the following: Canadian Criminal Record check, an Employment Verification and/or an Education and Accreditation Verification.

  2. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Alcohol & Drug (A&D) policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, a position must provide evidence of a satisfactory Alcohol & Drug test in accordance with the Company's Alcohol & Drug Policy. In order to be valid, the test must have been conducted at the direction of AECOM - O&G Business Unit.

Minimum Requirements

  • Journeyman Certification with Interprovincial Red Seal

  • Able to operate a Skid Steer

  • Experienced in completing form work

  • Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS-09 or 2020) Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to run a small Excavator and Telehandler

  • AWP (Aerial Work Platform)
