Job Summary

AECOM’s Environment team is seeking an Acoustic Engineer based in Calgary, AB to support growth of our Acoustics practice in Canada. You will be working on projects throughout Mid and Western Canada, with support and technical review from senior acoustics specialists in other offices in Canada. You will also participate in knowledge sharing within AECOM’s global Acoustics Technical Practice Group, our internal network of over 380 AECOM staff who are either working in Acoustics or have an active interest. You will prepare noise analysis and recommendations in a range of fields, such as industrial environmental compliance, energy and infrastructure, and transportation planning. You will have a track record of technical excellence and strong communication skills, interacting with multidisciplinary teams and with external clients and agencies.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assessment of noise impacts and development of mitigation solutions

  • Noise propagation calculations and software modelling

  • Site work including noise and vibration measurements, logger set up, and site reviews

  • Building successful business relationships with internal teams and external clients

  • Coordination with Canada region Acoustics practice group

  • Preparation of proposal documents and technical deliverables

  • Managing time, scope and budget of assigned projects

  • Ensuring accuracy and quality of technical information and project documentation

  • Work in accordance with AECOM’s Safety, Health & Environment and Quality Management System policies

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related subject with at least one course in Vibration

  • 5+ years of experience

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), or eligibility for P.Eng.

  • Alberta Driver’s license

  • Excellent technical writing skills and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with others, both directly and remotely

  • Ability to travel for field work, including experience with noise and vibration monitoring protocols and equipment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel)

  • Solid experience with industry software (such as Cadna\A, SoundPLAN, STAMSON)

  • Fluent knowledge of Alberta’s provincial environmental guidelines and federal regulatory requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • CAD skills/experience – e.g. AutoCAD, MicroStation

  • GIS skills/experience – e.g. ArcGIS

  • Experience with regulatory requirements in other jurisdictions
