Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Planner/GIS Technician for a role within AECOM’s integrated Transportation and Buildings & Places team, where you will work with a collaborative group of Architects, Urban Designers, Engineers and Planning members. This position is centrally located within the Greater Vancouver area, in our Burnaby, BC office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to Planning and Design projects for clients such as TransLink, BC Ferries, Port of Vancouver, cities, municipalities, railways and others.

  • Design graphics that communicate efficiently and elegantly concepts, conditions and trends related to planning and design

  • Create deliverables, including reports material, drawings and presentations, from conceptual layout through development to final version

  • Research to support planning policy and land development work such as economic, demographic, and transportation forecasts

  • Generate, convert and/or modify images to communicate the desired message to the target audiences

  • Produce graphics from Geographic Information Systems

  • Support business development pursuits and proposal preparations

  • Develop and manage Client relationships

  • Develop innovative and creative solutions to help solve our client’s complex challenges

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Planning/Economics or GIS

  • 3+ years or relevant experience

  • Performs well in a team setting plus work independently

  • Ability to generate presentations, attractive planning materials, and policy documents for clients

  • Ability to organize design charrettes materials, engagement workshops with clients and various stakeholder groups

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office software,

  • Experienced with Adobe Creative Suite (I.e. Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign)

  • Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD

  • Proficient in Geographic Information Systems software, including Arc Info applications

  • Cartographic principles, GIS concepts and analytical techniques, and digital data conversion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in GIS preferred

  • Graphics & Urban design capability

  • Photorealistic rendering & graphic capacity (ie. Sketch up, Revit, Lumion 3D, VRAY, etc.)
