AECOM Safety Officer in Bukit Damansarsa, Malaysia

Job Summary

  • Responsible to carry out the planning, monitoring, inspections, meetings and reviews of Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) activities

  • Maintain and monitor the execution of project safety plan procedures and ensure that the requirements of these procedure are adhered to. Related procedures include:

  • Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 and Regulations

  • Environmental Quality Act 1974

  • Factory and Machinery Act 1967 and Regulations

  • Uniform Building By Laws

  • Project Contract Documents

  • Project Conditions of Contract

  • Health and Safety in Employment Act (1992 and 2002)

  • Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series, OHSAS 18001 :2007

  • International Environmental Management System, ISO 14001:2004

  • Other applicable OHS legislation and requirement

  • Should have the relevant experience in liaison and coordination with local authorities such as Department of Environment (DOE), Department of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH), Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial (PERKESO) and Jabatan Bomba Penyelamat Malaysia (JBPM) and Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB).

  • Review of Contractor’s HSSE Plan

  • Review and Monitor Contractor’s Training and Enforcement plan for HSSE.

  • Monitor and Issuance of Non conformance and recommendation of penalties when contractor does not comply with the contract or HSSE guidelines.

  • Develop a programme to monitor the Contractor’s SHE compliance and performance through audit and surveillance / inspections

  • Monitor and advise on the project SHE performance so that desired project SHE performance can be achieved

  • Attend to surveillance inspections, coordination meetings and joint inspections throughout the project duration.

  • Review Contractor’s Monthly / Weekly safety report and test records

  • Monitor and ensure that the Contractor establish lists of the relevant authorities (DOSH, DOE, BOMBA, CIDB, etc.) and their requirements in conjunction with the submission required and the preparation of any reports.

  • Able to conduct training on HSSE matters to AECOM, Subconsultants, Contractor and Subcontractor when necessary for the Airport security, Airside Operations, Aviation security Requirements and Airport operations requirements. Should also be able to coordinate with Airside unit, AVSEC and MAHB to arrange for briefing and training.

  • Participate in Trade specific SHE Risk Assessment reviews.

  • Be involved in the review process of Contractors’ Job Safety Analysis/ Safety Work Method Statement/Work Permits before work commences on site.

  • Attend Contractors’ weekly “Toolbox Talk” safety meetings

Minimum Requirements

  • Experienced in Airside / Airport operational area / environment.

  • Experienced in both greenfield and brownfield projects.

  • A sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the company’s success

  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently.

  • Good time-management skills

  • Great interpersonal and communication skill

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15 years of experience as a practicing Safety and Health Officer registered with the Department of Safety and Health (Green Book).

  • Must have undergone formal training and certification on Risk management, Health and Safety, Environmental and Security.
