AECOM is currently seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to be based out of Burnaby, BC. This position will be a part of our Buildings + Places business unit. The Buildings and Places Team is a vibrant and growing business line which delivers Engineering, architectural and project management services as well as planning and economic analysis for construction projects. Job Summary:We are searching for someone who is resilient and enjoys working within a strong multi-disciplinary team. This individual must be a licensed Professional Engineer with the EGBC and will be responsible for the structural design on a number of projects within a dynamic and strong team.Responsibilities include client communication, consultant coordination, design development, drawing review and contract administration. We are looking for an individual with experience in light industrial, commercial, and municipal projects with broad skills in all phases of project delivery. They must have strong, hands-on technical knowledge. Experience in field review and contract administration is essential.The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Participate in a wide variety of projects including subway stations and other transit facilities, vehicle storage/maintenance facilities, office buildings, parking structures, public facilities, and municipal and industrial facilities.Use independent judgement to evaluate, analyze and design structures in reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, and other building materials, with thorough working knowledge of OBC, NBCC, CSA, and related codes/standards.Interpret project requirements and develop proposed solutionsPerform computer modelling, structural analysis, and design calculations, complying with applicable codes and standardsPreparing contract drawings and specificationsConducting field investigationsPreparing reportsLiaising with clientsPerforming shop drawing review
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s degree in Structural EngineeringA minimum of six (6) years of relevant work experience in as many as possible of the following types of projects: subway stations and other transit facilities, vehicle storage/maintenance facilities, office buildings, parking structures, public facilities, and municipal and industrial facilities. More experience is preferred.Licensed professional engineer (P.Eng.) registered with EGBC. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Ten (10) years+ experience and Struct. Eng. designation with EGBC.Skills in the areas of team building, collaboration and effective communications with colleagues, clients, and contractors.Ability to manage and supervise less-experienced engineers and CAD technologists.Effective time-management, written communications skills, analytical and interpersonal skills as well as good decision making, planning and organizational skills.Proven ability to meet required delivery dates for multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications including Word and Excel.Additional Information:AECOM encourages, but does not require, its employees to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
