We are currently seeking an experienced leader with a focus on urban climate adaptation to join our established UK based Climate Change, Sustainability and Resilience practice.
The specific role is to provide strategic and technical leadership for the Sustainable and Resilient Cities (SRC) team that sits within the wider practice. The SRC team has a strong track record in supporting clients around the world such as the Committee on Climate Change, EBRD and World Bank as well as colleagues across AECOM to understand climate risks to major urban masterplans and infrastructure and design innovative resilience solutions.
It is an exciting time for AECOM, we have recently launched our global Sustainable Legacies strategy, and we are seeing significant demand in this area from our clients and the wider business. This role will be to support this team, and wider practice, to grow and develop to reflect this growing demand.
Working with existing senior members of the team and practice to strengthen our position as a leader in climate risk assessment and adaptation strategies for cities and large-scale regeneration both in the UK and across the EMEA region including proactive promotion to both internal and external audiences.
Collaborate across the team and practice to shape and deliver our ambitious business plan; growing our share of the market in urban resilience and climate adaptation by winning work with new/existing clients as well as supporting our urban design and infrastructure teams deliver more resilient projects. This will include leadership of new business and marketing initiatives and management of large bids.
Provide technical and strategic leadership in driving the team strategy as well as identifying and developing areas for growth to support clients including leading international finance institutions (World Bank, EBRD, EIB etc.), city governments, developers and/or development agencies both within the UK and overseas.
Provide technical leadership for projects and frameworks ensuring successful project comes including high levels of client satisfaction, technical excellence and strong commercial delivery.
Working collaboratively with team’s across AECOM’s UK business to seek and realise opportunities.
Support other senior leaders with the atttraction, retention and development of talent to help meet the practice and AECOM’s sustainability and climate chan
Proven track record in winning and delivering urban climate risk appraisal and adaptation strategies
Demonstrable experience project managing and delivering urban development strategies for a wide range of clients including leading international finance institutions (World Bank, EBRD, EIB etc), city governments, developers and development agencies both within the UK and overseas
Strong understanding of climate science and ability to use climate projections across spatial scales
Experience managing junior staff
Excellent written and verbal communication with experience managing stakeholder engagement events
Strong industry profile with experience presenting at conferences and publishing in professional journals
Good understanding of the development cycle and role of urban design / planning in creating more resilient places and / or infrastructure planning
Good understanding of development funding and green financing preferable
Advanced qualification in sustainable urban development, planning, climate adaptation, disaster preparedness or similar
