AECOM Senior Geotechnical Engineer in Bristol, United Kingdom
We are looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing Basingstoke Ground Engineering team to deliver consultancy and advisory services to both internal and external clients to a high level of technical quality and to programme and budget.
Scoping, tendering and supervision of ground investigations;
Data interpretation, parameter derivation and design of geotechnical works including slopes, foundations, retaining structures, earthworks, strengthened earthworks and ground improvement;
Contribute or lead the production of desk study, interpretive, design reports, technical notes and input to specification and contract documentation;
Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary design team interfacing directly with other ground engineering team members, other internal design teams from various disciplines and contractors;
You will take responsibility for delivery of projects or parts of projects under guidance and will undertake the internal checking and review of work by other members of the geotechnical team. You will be involved in bidding for jobs and programme and budget control.
You will have strong development skills and the technical ability, knowledge and competence to provide guidance and teaching to staff;
Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignements.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the industry with a demonstrable experience in the technical support of projects and be conversant with the standards that apply. A degree in Civil Engineering although individuals with an Engineering Geology or similar background will be considered.
Ideally an MSc in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or similar.
Chartered status with the ICE, IOM3 or equivalent.
