Job Summary

AECOM is currently expanding its Water team in South Wales and Bristol in response to a number of exciting opportunities and new framework contracts. The team works on a variety of projects, predominantly in the wastewater and drainage sectors, from asset condition investigations, feasibility studies and detailed design, to construction quality inspections. We are looking for a Senior Engineer with relevant experience to complement our existing team and enable us to fulfil the high expectations of our clients.

Our work involves a mix of office-based and site-based activities, and due to its flexibility could suit someone living anywhere in the South Wales or Bristol region.

Job Duties

  • Deliver feasibility, outline and detailed engineering solutions, including detailed designs.

  • Undertake and manage infrastructure, wastewater and water projects including associated civil engineering inputs.

  • Act as client’s representative during scheme construction to provide assurance of the quality of new assets.

  • Undertake technical delivery and checking of work.

  • Manage small project teams to complete technical project delivery to programme, cost and quality requirements.

  • Mentor team members to promote their technical and professional development.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering or related discipline, or commensurate combination of experience and qualifications

  • Chartered or Incorporated member of ICE or CIWEM, or actively working towards professional qualification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant relevant experience of working as a civil engineer at Engineer or a Senior Engineer level within the water industry.

  • Core technical skills relevant to the civil engineering in the water industry such e.g. pipelines, reinforced concrete structures and above-ground sewer assets.

  • Ability to develop and assess a wide range of solutions based on an understanding of the application, benefits and limitations of each option.

  • Understanding of constructability and operability requirements within design.

  • Experience of working in construction, either as a site engineer or other engineering/quality-related role.

  • Good and up-to-date knowledge of current water industry standards and best practice.

  • Experience in working with and directing other relevant technical disciplines.

  • Ability to manage small project teams and provide mentorship and direction to your team members including junior engineers and technicians.

  • Proven experience of developing good working relationship with clients, contractors, key stakeholders and the supply chain.

  • Ability to deliver project work to programme, cost and quality requirements.

  • An enthusiastic and collaborative approach to your work, demonstrating the relevant behaviours and work ethos to solve client and project problems.
