AECOM Senior Mechanical Engineer - Fuel Systems in Brisbane, Australia

Job Summary

As a result of a significant project pipeline, AECOM’s Resources, Power and Industrial Business has an opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to help drive the technical outcome for a series of active fuel/power projects across the defence and private sectors for AECOM’s valued Clients.

Specifically, this opportunity will require significant technical understanding across bulk fuel/oil & gas installations, with the ability to generate designs from concept through to execution. This is a design consulting role that will influence outcomes with our clients across the areas of Defence, maritime, aviation and large vehicle refuelling and bulk fuel storage of liquid hydrocarbon fuels.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will provide engineering/technical oversight to the wider team, with the expectation that you will be a focal point for the client and AECOM design team. You will be hands on in the development of engineering design documentation and construction phase technical support for new-build, upgrading and refurbishment of bulk fuel/ oil & gas infrastructure. The role will also provide an opportunity to mentor junior AECOM team members throughout ANZ and to help build on the existing capability in the fuel and defence sectors within the business. As an RPEQ and Chartered Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical checking of projects documents and will provide innovation during master-planning with our clients to ensure the optimum solution is delivered on time, every time.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering RPEQ/CPEng - Essential

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to develop concept designs from scratch with minimum supervision, ensuring innovation is at the forefront of all early discussions

  • Experience in developing engineering design within oil & gas industries

  • Extensive knowledge of design, Australian Standards, ASME codes and API standards for pressure vessel & storage tank

  • Fully conversant with standards for various type of pumps

  • Experience in piping system design

  • Competent in developing/reviewing basis of design, technical specifications, datasheets, scope of supply, technical bid evaluations, and vendor documents

  • Familiar with process/utility packages

  • A minimum of 8 years+ experience in the field described above

  • Effectively manage budget and time to deliver top class projects

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Extensive knowledge in engineering software i.e., Nozzle pro, Auto pipe

  • Knowledge of Code and policy compliance including AS 1940, AS 4897, AS 4041, AS 1210, AS 1692, ASME Sec. VIII, API 610, ASME B73.1
