AECOM Principal Water Planner in Brisbane, Australia

Job Summary

AECOM’s Water Infrastructure Planning team in Brisbane is growing. We have a fantastic opportunity for a Principal Planner to play a key role in our multi-disciplinary engineering, construction and operations team to help us harness the full value of our global expertise and create valued water solutions.

We are a team of industry leaders who pride ourselves on the delivery of innovative water planning projects for a diverse range of clients. Key focus areas include growth servicing, strategic planning for water, wastewater and recycled water networks, detailed planning for a growing portfolio of large infrastructure projects, urban development and growth corridor projects.

Our team are currently working on a range of projects for clients such as SunWater, Seqwater, Unitywater, Arrow Energy, Seqwater, BHP, Sydney Water, Water Corporation and Urban Utilities. Examples of projects that we have recently delivered or are currently delivering include Wamuran Irrigation Scheme, Prospect to Macarthur Pipeline and the Sydney Water Blueprint Program.

As a Principal Planner your responsibilities may include:

  • Project delivery and contributing to growing, shaping and maintaining our industry leading Integrated Water Planning business

  • Working on complex, large-scale projects that deliver great outcomes for our clients.

  • Business development including client engagement, proposal preparation and bid management for clients including major and regional urban utilities, developers, local and state government etc.

  • Proactive delivery of high-quality and timely valued water network planning solutions that are focused on flexibility, sustainability, optimisation, integration, whole-of-lifecycle cost and acceptable risk

  • Collaborating with local, regional, and global AECOM colleagues as part of project delivery including disciplines such as design, environment, geotechnical, digital engineering, community consultation, advisory, asset and information management.

  • Checking and review of project outputs, including project deliverables (calculations, specifications, reports) through to technical verification and peer review (as appropriate to level of experience.

  • Providing technical guidance and support to junior engineers within the water planning team and maintaining a high performing, engaged and supportive team culture.

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant post-graduate water industry experience, preferably in private sector consulting engineering, with exposure to medium-large and multidisciplinary water infrastructure projects.

  • In depth network planning experience that demonstrates the development and evaluation of options and proficient in hydraulic network modelling of water and/or wastewater systems.

  • Well informed on current and potential future policy, practice, trends, technology, and information affecting water planning, including drivers, regulation, framework and guidelines.

  • Appreciation of clients within the water and other water-related markets such as land development, private water utilities, local and state government as in major urban water utilities, regional authorities etc.

  • Tender and Bid exposure – desirable

  • Passion for delivering high quality work

  • Champion of new ideas, encouraging initiative and promoting innovative techniques or actions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Civil, Environmental of Chemical Engineering (or equivalent) – essential;

  • RPEQ/CPEng (or working towards.)
