AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineering Intern in the Boston or Chelmsford area to join AECOM’s Transportation team. Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study. This internship is transportation-focused, working with regional railroads and transit authorities.
This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2024.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Builds analytic and design skills.
Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
Perform quality control reviews and design checks of railroad projects.
Train in civil site design, track design, overhead catenary systems (OCS) engineering, utilities, and drainage.
Candidate must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
Must have completed 3 years of study at the time of the internship.
Proficient in MS Office Suite
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to manage time, deadlines, keep track of steps, and prioritize tasks.
Knowledge of industry-standard software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InRoads, OpenRoads)
1 cycle of internship experience is a plus.
