Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Geologist for employment at the Borger, Texas project site. The successful candidate will work help supervise field investigations, remediation and small construction projects that are performed in a refinery setting. The work will include collection of soil and groundwater samples, management of subcontractors, review and interpretation of geologic data, laboratory analyses of soil and groundwater samples, report writing and support for implementation of health and safety plans. The position will report to a Program Manager and work under the supervision of AECOM Project Managers. The successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of geology, environmental investigation techniques and civil and mechanical construction.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope

  • Collect and enter data, and apply technical principles and theories

  • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance

  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific discipline (e.g., environmental science, geophysics, hydrogeology, geochemistry, environmental geology, geomorphology, hydrogeology, environmental engineering).

  • Must be willing and prepared to work predominantly in the field to perform the field activities listed above

  • Proficiency in standard MS Office suite software applications

  • Ability to write and convey thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner

  • Ability to learn through on-the-job experience

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds and safely drive a full-size pickup truck

  • Must be able to work outdoors year-round

  • Must possess a valid Driver License

  • Must be able to pass a client-mandated physical and drug/alcohol test

  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training

  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour Construction Safety

  • Strong technical writing skills

  • Experience reading and interpreting environmental regulations

  • Geologist-in-Training (GIT) or Fundamentals of Geology (FG) by ASBOG exam
