Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Roadway Designer for immediate employment in the Boca Raton, FL office.The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established design oriented career in a variety of transportation and civil works projects.

Our Boca Raton Transportation practice is a truly multi-discipline practice focused on providing collaborative solutions to transportation and design.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Roadway design

  • Roadway plans production

  • Roadway cost estimates

  • Development of roadway design alternatives

  • Miscellaneous support to the roadway design group

  • Serves as a capable professional within specific domains of the field.

  • Under general direction, prepares and modifies designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings and working drawings.

  • Independently develops alternate technical solutions and design options in support of project team, e.g. white paper research, code review and wide range of difficult problems.

  • Develops and/or implements the results of reports, opinions, or recommendations to address design challenges/opportunities.

  • Leads the development and implementation of the design ideas and solutions.

  • Responsible for communication and collaboration with full design team and client.

  • Oversees and coordinates the technical work for projects consistent with experience.

  • Understands the marketing of professional services.

  • Develops and leads technical approach and criteria for a design element, and coordinates complex work.

  • Ensures compliance to Quality Assurance Procedures.

  • May be required to sign and seal documents (e.g. drawings).

  • Employee works with clients as well as the internal and external project team to execute the project from concept to execution and completion.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience

  • Florida PE License or abillity to obtain within a 6 month period

  • Experience in implementing design quality assurance and quality control activities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated team-building ability and internal/external networking skills

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to present and discuss technical content with clients, regulatory agency staff, and the public

  • Must be highly self-motivated with the ability to successfully multi-task, perform detail oriented work, work with minimum supervision, and demonstrate effective time management skills

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering

  • 10+ years of experience

  • Previous FDOT project experience

  • Previous experience in roadway design
