Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a senior consultant to join our Stakeholder Engagement, Communications and Consultation team in Birmingham. We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering effective communications and who can demonstrate experience of engaging and consulting a wide range of audiences to support complex projects.
We are looking for someone who is proactive and ambitious; can demonstrate experience of managing projects, people and budgets; can bring new ideas about engagement and is interested in learning about our work across different sectors.
Your role will include:
Assisting with the management and delivery of a range of stakeholder engagement projects, with a focus on engagement and consultation around feasibility and pre-planning application stages for major projects, including infrastructure development.
Engagement, consultation and communications during the consenting or construction phase of projects.
Supporting the growth of the stakeholder engagement service across AECOM, with a focus on growth of our team and work in Scotland, as well as providing advice and support to teams across the UK. This will require working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.
Supporting the identification of new business opportunities and associated feasibility studies, development plans and proposals with a focus on the Scottish market, as well as wider UK. This will include promoting our team’s service to both internal and external audiences.
Developing and managing the work of others if and when required.
Playing a key role in delivering major infrastructure and development projects.
We have been involved in a range of high-profile projects in the UK, across a range of sectors including:
East West Rail
HS2, Phases 1 and 2
A27 Arundel, A303 Stonehenge, A46 and A428 highway schemes for National Highways;
Major station and network upgrade works at Waterloo and Kings Cross for Network Rail;
Burgess Hill development for Homes England
Multiple energy and waste management facilities and renewable energy projects.
The team comes from a wide range of backgrounds, and we would be particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience of stakeholder engagement, consultation or communications.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :
You will have experience or interest in industry sectors relevant to our business (e.g. transport, energy, water, residential development, commercial development), and will be confident engaging a variety of stakeholder groups.
You will also have good personal communication skills, will need to work flexibly and be willing to travel.
Knowledge of UK planning and environmental policy developments related to stakeholder participation and engagement would be an advantage.
