Midlands MEP are looking for a Principal or Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their established team. This is a great opportunity for a Client facing Engineer to take a leading role on varied and exciting projects across the Midlands and central belt with National and International opportunities also available.

The successful candidate will be a self motivated, confident individual that can provide guidance to entry level engineers.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Produce detailed design information including calculations, drawings, technical reports and technical specifications

  • Carry out feasibility surveys, studies and produce reports

  • Provide support to the team and discipline leads

  • Attend design team and / or client team meetings

  • Review the work of Engineers and Graduates and provide support and guidance.

  • Act as a mentor to junior staff and promote CPD activities

  • Consider financial implications in producing design options

  • Carry out risk assessments and value engineering

  • Contribute and provide information for fee proposals

Minimum Requirements

  • Extensive experience in Mechanical building services design in a wide range of market sectors.

  • The ability to provide technically sound design solutions.

  • Security Clearance may be required to work on some projects

  • Experience of seeing conceptual designs through to completion and dealing directly with clients

  • Work experience within a similar consultancy or other relevant business

  • Relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering design, including areas such as specification writing, calculations, and developing designs from first principles.

  • Experience in; the calculation of loads and system duties including Psychrometrics, sizing of Pipework and Ductwork, Sizing of Domestic water services, Producing Schematic diagrams, Producing Plant & Equipment Schedules

  • Experience in industrial, education, commercial and blue light sectors would be an advantage

  • Software:

  • Hevacomp

  • IES


  • MS Office

  • Revit capabilities (not essential)

  • Full UK Driving Licence

  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English, able to inspire, influence and negotiate

Preferred Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or related degree in building services

  • CSCS card

  • Membership (CEng / IEng) of CIBSE, or relevant and equivalent professional body.
