The successful candidate will be responsible for high quality project delivery, with a focus on managing hydraulic modelling services for geomorphology and river restoration. As a Senior / Principal they should bring unique expertise on specific technologies or processes, will be able to apply acquired expertise and knowledge to solve business challenges, provide coaching to peers and team members, and will be sought for technical experience and able to influence suppliers. The job involves:
Proven experience in river restoration modelling and design, and catchment / reach scale geomorphological assessments.
Project management (including client management), technical proposal and report writing.
Team management, including supervision and/or mentoring.
Ability to work collaboratively and iteratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
2D and 1D hydraulic modelling using a range of software packages.
Geomorphological and sediment transport modelling.
Hydrological investigations (including typical as well as drought flows).
Use of varied tools to deliver outcomes (software, models etc).
WFD / Environmental Compliance/ EIA studies.
Be aware of and understand the AECOM IMS procedures, their importance and their application to projects.
All members of the Water Environment team take an active role in client contact and commercial aspects of our projects. Health, safety and environmental considerations underpin all of our work.
The majority of our work is in the fluvial environment, although a significant proportion is also focused on estuaries, lakes and the marine environment.
To be successful in this role we are looking for applicants from experienced professionals who have worked in a similar role. They should:
Be qualified to degree level in relevant subject (e.g. geography, physical sciences, engineering).
Highly numerate with strong analytical / statistical skills.
Experience analysing large datasets.
Proficiency in the application of hydrological software and environmental modelling (hydrological/ hydraulic/ water quality/ water resources).
Proficiency in GIS software.
Excellent report writing and ability to clearly present complex technical information visually and orally to a wide audience.
Experienced in technical project delivery (from bid preparation/ drafting technical proposals to project management).
Track record of project management.
Ability to coordinate, liaise and engage with clients and key stakeholders.
Provide mentoring, guidance and technical advice to support junior staff.
Knowledge of the water cycle.
Understanding of legislative requirements and other drivers.
Experience of stakeholder engagement.
An MSc or PhD in a relevant subject.
Membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g. CIWEM).
A valid UK driving licence.
