Position Title Intermediate Building Services Electrical Engineer

Job Summary

We are currently looking for an Intermediate Building Services Electrical Engineer to join our Building Services team in Birmingham. AECOM’s Birmingham Office is a multidisciplinary unit numbering 100+ staff, which has an established Sustainability/Building Services team with remit and workload to grow.

Along with Sustainability/Building Services Engineering, the Birmingham Office offers: -

  • Project Management

  • Civil Engineering

  • University College Birmingham - McIntyre House

  • University of Nottingham - Si Yuan Centre

  • Jaguar Land Rover - Various projects including Damson Parkway Distribution Centre

  • Essex County Fire & Rescue Services Headquarters

  • BMW - Plants Swindon and Oxford

  • Blue Light Hub - Cumbria County Council

Minimum Requirements

We are looking for candidates who have experience in the following areas;

  • Proficient in the use of Amtech Pro-design cable sizing software

  • Proficient in the use of Dialux or similar lighting design software

  • Competent in designing coordinated containment runs and optimising ceiling spaces with mechanical colleagues

  • Familiar with drawing outputs required for 3D modelling in Revit software

  • Thorough knowledge of BS7671 with appropriate training

  • Possess an intuitive approach to initial loading estimates to generate utility quotations

  • Familiar with Building Regulations requirements for energy conservation

  • Capable of managing a small project from start to finish and being aware of fee and time constraints

  • Strong communication skills both internally and within the design team environment

  • Design experience of LV distribution and switchgear, LV cabling and containment, Minor Power, Internal External and Emergency Lighting, Fire alarms, CCTV, IT, Door entry systems, BMS, Lighting controls etc.

  • Competent in the use of NBS specification writing software

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates should have the following qualifications and knowledge for this position;

  • Masters degree in electrical engineering to IET/CIBSE educational requirements

  • Some post graduate experience in a design consultancy environment

  • Portfolio of relevant work demonstrating required competencies

  • Actively working towards CEng accreditation
