Working within a collaborative and supportive team and office environment. A key part of this role is working closely with peers and Directors across UK and Ireland offices as well as opportunities for international projects. In this role, you will also provide management, leadership, mentoring and technical advice to the modelling team.
Our Transport Planning and Modelling team has supported and delivered high-profile projects in the West Midlands and across the UK for a variety of interesting clients.
As an Associate Director, you will work closely with our Transport Planning and Modelling teams in Birmingham and colleagues from the Roads and Streets and Environment sectors across the UK and Ireland. You will specify and manage the development of traffic models underpinning our advice to clients, including primary data collection, model network development, model calibration and validation, model testing and sense checking.
You will be expected to coordinate and integrate the modelling analysis across the wider project team, ensuring that the model outputs fully address and meet the clients objectives in a robust and compliant way. You will be expected to interrogate and interpret the modelling outputs in clear and comprehensive reports, technical notes and presentations that fully meet client needs.
You will lead small and medium-sized projects and significant workstreams within larger projects with limited supervision, ensuring consistent application of best practice techniques.
You will also contribute to the production and delivery of proposals and bids related to our market area, leading on small and medium sized bids. You will also use and liaise with the Global Design Centre for project delivery.
Extensive experience and detailed knowledge of simulation software packages including one or more of the following - SATURN, VISUM, VISSIM, TUBA, PARAMICS, CUBE, EMME and spreadsheet modelling.
Knowledge and experience in the preparation and management of multi-modal transport modelling and forecasting and experience in appraisal and evaluation of transport proposals.
Understand how data is used in modelling with good analytical, data manipulation or statistical skills.
Knowledge of key guidance documents, such as WebTAG.
Leadership in producing quality client reports to a high technical standard.
Ability to liaise and engage with clients and key stakeholders
Good technical and communication skills.
A degree qualified in a relevant discipline (or equivalent) in Engineering, Geography, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Planning or a related discipline.
Appropriate professional status with membership of a relevant professional chartered institute.
