Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking an Environmental Scientist/Geologist for employment within our DCS - Environmental Remediation Practices group in our Billings, Montana office to support soil and groundwater investigations and remediation projects. The ideal candidate will be willing and able to learn new skills and methods on challenging field and office assignments in a collaborative team environment.
This position is expected to begin in January or May 2024.
Candidate will gain experience in their discipline through learning on the job and participating in development opportunities enabling professional growth and development. Candidate will complete field tasks, including site investigations, drilling oversight, soil and groundwater sample collection, remediation system data collection, and related work. The candidate will also provide office support for data management, report preparation, and maintain the required AECOM-related documentation and forms.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Conducting environmental field work, including collecting soil, groundwater, and remediation system data, soil logging, groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging, oversight of field surveys, drilling, well installation, development operations, and utility clearance for intrusive operations.
Field document preparation, field data collection, processing, and interpretation.
Supporting office tasks, including data analysis and report preparation.
Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, and compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Soil Science, Environmental Science or related field.
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required.
Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review and substance abuse test.
Preferred Qualifications:
40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification.
Relevant intern and/or professional experience.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Additional Information
Relocation assistance and/or per diem is not offered for this position.
Travel of 50% to project locations including driving and overnight stays.
Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation (Montana locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $43,480.10 - $59,785.14.
