Job Description

AECOM’s Interior Design + Strategy Studio is growing, and we are hiring a Commercial Architect to join our talented team of Designers, Workplace Strategists, Change Makers and Design Thinkers. Based in our Belfast office, this role offers an exciting opportunity to work on Interiors and Architecture projects both in the UK, ROI and international locations. We are seeking an individual who can work collaboratively with colleagues across the AECOM business and possesses strong technical and leadership capabilities.

Experience and Skills

  • To take full responsibility for the development of the design, tender production process, contract administration and deliverables on site, and liaise with internal and external design team, Contractor and sub-contractors.

  • Manage the preparation of design work and presentations, the production of the technical delivery of projects including working drawings, specification writing and contract documentation and help in the development of presentations and projects

  • Perform site based duties: Attend site co-ordination meetings with Main Contractor and Sub-Contractors, review completed and in –progress works and comment accordingly. Review sub-contractor drawings and comment as required. Carry out snagging of completed works. Produce site sketches and aid in on-site co-ordination. Contribute to fortnightly progress reports.

  • Ability to create and drive excellent content for clients with high level Director support

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - able to convey complex ideas and messages in a simple and clear way

  • Seeks out innovation and best practice across all areas of the role – brings new ideas and creative thinking to client work as well as across the internal AECOM Design team

  • Ability to write design proposals with Director support, clear narrative, strong description of services and associated modelling of fees

  • To seek continuing professional development thorough knowledge of and compliance with AECOM procedures and standards

  • Proficient in Autocad and Sketch up

  • Proficient in In-Design / PhotoShop Excel and Powerpoint

  • Proficient in the use of Revit Architecture (2015 or later).

  • Full knowledge, understanding and application of all UK Building regulations

  • Specification writing, NBS preferable

Requirements

  • Act as project leader on appropriate projects

  • Fully Qualified Architect (ARB Registered)

  • Able to understand and formulate design decisions and present for discussion

  • Experience of various forms of building contract

  • Able to integrate design requirements with architecture

  • Able to use a variety of media in the development and documentation of a design project

  • Able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines efficiently

  • Excellent project management and organisational skills

  • Able to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information

  • Flexible and open attitude towards new ways of working and commitment to independent, lifelong learning

  • Responsible, self-assured, motivated and able to take responsibility

  • Willingness to listen and learn from all members of the team

  • Good interpersonal skills and able to work independently and as part of an effective team

  • Able to build good relationships at all levels, internally and externally

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Maintain a close collaboration with both the Belfast, Dublin, London and Glasgow teams.

  • Resilient to cope with conflicting demands, able to prioritise duties and work effectively under pressure

  • Able to manage junior designers on the team

Qualifications

  • Considerable industry experience in commercial office Interior Design technical and site-based duties.

  • Proven related Architecture experience.
