We are a global multidisciplinary construction consultancy with offices across the UK and Ireland and we have a new job vacancy for a Civil CAD Technician to be based in our Belfast office.
You will join a team of about 15 engineers within a larger office of over 200 consultancy focused professionals. You will work with our established technicians within our buildings civil and structural engineering team on the development and design of site layouts and infrastructure, including drainage, site levels, road layouts etc.
This position is for a technician or assistant level Civil Engineering CAD Technician who is able to create and edit 2D/3D civil models on building related projects, in coordination with our Engineers and Senior CAD Technicians by using computer assisted design applications such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Navisworks.
This is a great opportunity for someone with some experience in structural and civil AutoCAD design with the desire to develop a career within the construction consulting industry. This will be a fantastic way to build on your basic knowledge of CAD and it will offer you the chance to pick up on other industry standard software packages.

Your main role will be to assist our Senior CAD Technician and wider civil engineering design team in the creation, development and detailing of high-quality detailed Civil 3D models involving site layouts, levels and drainage based on the engineer’s sketches. You will use a variety of CAD software programmes to create these designs in 2D and 3D models.
You will require good attention to detail, and it is important that you are a good communicator as these traits will help you produce accurate drawings quickly without the need for extra amendments where possible.
Our work culture and methods will help you to work quickly and efficiently but it would be a benefit if you already consider yourself to have strong time management skills.
It would be beneficial if you have a blend of design and detailing experience in some or all of the following:
Access roads, junctions and infrastructure of building development projects (including road geometry, vehicle tracking, earthworks, pavements, drainage and underground services).
Develop Engineers concepts and sketches into accurate models and drawings.
Able to manage all in-coming and out-going models and drawing information.
A high level of computer literacy as well as spatial and design skills to be able to visualise projects in 2D and 3D.
Attention to detail to create accurate drawings.
Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.
Relevant professional qualifications or demonstratable technical understanding (minimum HNC or equivalent).
Work experience within a similar consultancy or other relevant business.
A knowledge of drainage design including piped systems and SuDS based systems.
A knowledge of carriageway design standards, for example: MCHW, DMRB and local authority design guidance.
An appreciation of BIM Level 2 processes and workflows.
Ability to use Revit and appreciation of BIM360.
An ability to produce structural drawings to assist the wider team as necessary.
