Position Title Wetlands Ecologist

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated wetlands ecologist to join our team in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate a strong working knowledge of aquatic and terrestrial natural resources in the Gulf South with strong experience with wetlands in south Louisiana and throughout the Gulf Coast. The selected applicant can look forward to supporting projects such as wetlands assessments and delineations, aquatic and terrestrial natural resources surveys, and coastal-related projects.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
Conduct wetlands and stream delineations
Prepare all necessary documents required for wetlands permitting/ applications
Conduct field studies related to natural resources, environmental fisheries, protected species, habitat assessments, aquatic and terrestrial resources surveys, and related parameters
Prepare natural resources technical reports
Assist with preparation of NEPA, EIS, and BA documents
Coordinate with local, state and federal resources agencies with regard to wetlands, natural resources, NEPA, EIS and related studies and/ or permitting
Work in support of regional program areas related to natural resources, coastal restoration, coastal zone management, and others
Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources/ Biology/ Ecology
2+ years’ experience
Must have working knowledge of US Army Corps of Engineers requirements for wetlands delineation, wetlands permitting/ application submittal, mitigation, and associated coastal use permit/ joint permit application aspects
Must have successfully completed wetlands delineation training course based on the 1987 Wetlands Delineation Manual
Working knowledge of wetland and upland plant identification within the Gulf south
Working knowledge of environmental permitting including T&E species and all associated field surveys
Must possess a valid Louisiana driver’s license
5+ years’ experience in the environmental consulting industry
Working knowledge/ experience of USACE – New Orleans District wetlands permitting, application submittal, mitigation, etc.
Experience with fisheries sampling
Working knowledge of environmental sampling of water, soils, sediments
