The AECOM UK&I Ground Engineering Practice is further expanding and has Senior level vacancies in various locations across the UK.
Our Ground Engineering Practice covers all elements of Ground Engineering with some key specialisms in tunnelling, mining and large linear infrastructure development.
AECOM’s UK&I Ground Engineering Practice provides one-stop access to services in project management, feasibility studies, site investigation, interpretation, detailed design, contract administration and construction supervision for geotechnical works. We work for leading UK&I and international clients and have commissions of varying scale across all sectors, including major infrastructure projects such as Thames Tideway, HS2, Neom (Saudi Arabia), Hinkley Point C nuclear power station deep temporary excavations and onshore tunnels, Lower Thames Crossing Ground Investigations and A303 Stonehenge tunnelling.
We require ambitious team players with the technical and commercial skills, knowledge and experience to take day to day responsibility for delivery of projects and tasks, ensuring technical quality and adherence to budget and programme. The positions will suit those who can work with a high degree of independence, prepare fee proposals for external and internal clients and lead the input to projects from desk study/feasibility through ground investigation and interpretation to final design.
To be successful candidates must have a proven track record in the delivery of ground engineering projects in the UK and be fully conversant with the technical standards that apply.
Job Duties include:
Close support to our Technical Directors and Associates in project delivery, work winning and maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
On the job mentoring of junior staff, supporting them to achieve chartered status.
Active input to team and client meetings, being prepared to own decisions and put forward alternative ideas and concepts.
Prepare fee bids and proposals for internal and external clients.
Preparing, checking and reviewing a wide range of technical reports including Desk Studies, Interpretative and Design reports.
Ensure rigorous adhesion to AECOMs industry leading quality assurance programme.
Possess strong problem solving and inter-personal skills, working closely and collaboratively with colleagues and clients in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write clear and concise technical reports and documents.
A wide range of experience, knowledge and skills in engineering geology.
A strong working knowledge of UK ground conditions and ground investigation practice.
Candidates will be familiar with software such as gINT or Holebase and the Rocscience suite; experience in using packages such as UDEC and Leapfrog would be advantageous.
You will preferably have good knowledge of Network Rail and Highways England design and reporting processes.
Must be willing to travel regularly within the UK and occasionally overseas for several weeks at a time.
BSc/MSci in Engineering Geology or Earth Science.
MSc in Engineering Geology or a related applicable field e.g. rock mechanics.
Chartered Geologist or Engineer status is highly desirable, you must be chartered or actively progressing towards chartership.
