AECOM is actively seeking an experienced and highly talented Traffic Engineer for immediate employment in our Dallas or Austin, Texas Offices. AECOM’s network of talented professionals supports public and private transportation clients across the State of Texas.
Responsibilities may include:
Leading a variety of technical tasks under the guidance of an experienced Project Manager in the areas of traffic operations analysis and simulation; traffic signal design and operations; signing and striping plan preparation; street lighting plan preparation; and construction traffic control planning
Produce project deliverables including construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports
Produce traffic engineering studies including modeling and simulation
Participate with Intelligent Transportation Systems planning and design
Coordinate with technical staff within the transportation department on multi-disciplinary projects.
Write technical reports and make technical presentations to a variety of stakeholders
Participate in client meetingsAdditional job responsibilities may include:
Lead and performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered
Identifies discrepancies in results
Provides guidance to entry level engineers
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision
Additional job responsibilities include:
Provides technical leadership for a specialty and is considered to be a fully capable professional in their field.
Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Makes decisions independently on technical problems and methods, and represents the organization in conferences.
Resolves important questions and plans and coordinates work.
Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modifications and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines.
The knowledge and expertise required for this level of work usually result from progressive experience.
Supervision and guidance relate largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
Receives direction on unusual conditions and developments.
BA/BS + 8 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
PE license in Texas
TxDOT experience preferred in traffic signals, signing, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and illumination design
Must have strong written and oral communication skills
